David E. Brown

David E. Brown was the mayor of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Life

Brown graduated from the University of Virginia in 1977 with a BA in History. He also graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon in 1981. Brown returned to Charlottesville in 1982 to start a Chiropractic practice, which he has maintained since. He served on the Virginia Board of Medicine from 1989–1997, and was President of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards from 1999-2001. Brown is active in the Charlottesville community, is a youth soccer coach and from 2001-2004 was the coordinator for the Soccer Outreach Program, making soccer available to children from public housing. Brown is currently the Director of Communications for Edison2, an entrant in the Progressive Automotive X Prize competition to create a 100mpg car. He was elected in 2004 to City Council and re-elected in 2007 and served as mayor from 2004-2008.[1]

Family

Brown is married to Jean Hiatt, and they have two sons, Gregory and Evans.
